They spend their days sticking their hands into outdoor boxes and corners and this can be very dangerous when they are near a nest. It could result in a disaster for them.
But someone found a solution and one mail carrier took to Reddit to share the secret.

“I can’t tell you how many times, especially during this part of the year, where I’ve opened up a box to see a little nest with three to five yellow jackets just chillin’. If I’m really unlucky, they will have made their nest at the very back of the box so I wind up sticking my hand in not knowing they are there…Getting to my point. We’ve found that they hate scented dryer sheets.
When we find a box that is a problem for nests, we just put a dryer sheet there and it does the trick.

So if you see a dryer sheet randomly at your mailbox, just know that the carrier just helped you from bees building their home in it.

Others commented and agreed to this, and also added that you can even put them in the pot plants to keep the bugs away.
