How To Know When Your Shih Tzu Has A Heart Problem? Symptoms And What To Do

Your Shih Tzu has a lot of things in common with you. We can say that heart problems are one of them. They can suffer from a heart problem and you may not recognize it. We are listing some of the most common signs of heart problems in your Shih Tzu Puppy.

Fainting

Because less blood is reaching the brain and the heart is not pumping as it should, your Shih Tzu will faint, this happens when they get excited. 

Swollen Stomach

It can be a sign of a heart problem if you see your Shih Tzu belly swollen. This can lead to further complications.

Coughing

If your Shih Tzu does it after exercising or before bedtime this can tell that something is going wrong with their heart.

Fatigue

Your Shih Tzu gets tired more easily, has no will to play or to go around. So it can change its behaviour.

Tongue

If his tongue turns blue-gray color this indicates that there is not enough blood in that area. 

Unexplained Vomiting

Your Shih Tzu would not want to eat that much because of the pressure placed on their stomach. This is a clear sign of something going wrong. 

Their heart rate will increase, if he has more than 103.5 F temperature, he may be suffering from heart problems.
