Because less blood is reaching the brain and the heart is not pumping as it should, your Shih Tzu will faint, this happens when they get excited.

It can be a sign of a heart problem if you see your Shih Tzu belly swollen. This can lead to further complications.

Coughing

If your Shih Tzu does it after exercising or before bedtime this can tell that something is going wrong with their heart.

Fatigue

Your Shih Tzu gets tired more easily, has no will to play or to go around. So it can change its behaviour.

Tongue

If his tongue turns blue-gray color this indicates that there is not enough blood in that area.
