Lhasa is of Tibetan origin and is named after the provincial capital.
The dog had the function of guarding temples and monasteries and was considered a lucky animal. The Shih Tzu may have come from a Lhasa cross, hence the similarity.
Dogs of both breeds live 12 to 15 years on average. The weight can vary from five to nine kilos.
The fur of puppies usually drags on the ground, but the fashion is to cut it leaving five to ten centimeters on the entire body.

PHYSICAL DIFFERENCES BETWEEN LHASA APSO AND SHIH TZU!!!
In the Lhasa Apso breed, light eyes (blue, green, or caramel) are not allowed, they are not silent like the Shih Tzu, they are alarm dogs, that is, they bark to warn that something is out of the ordinary, they are independent dogs and do not like a lot of laps.
Truffle Lhasa, lips and eyes, livers, or brown are not allowed either.
It’s completely out of the standard. Breeds with these characteristics are due to crosses between owners who don’t know the breed, and there is probably a Shih Tzu ancestor in the family.
The Shih Tzus, on the other hand, are allowed to have liver color, and honey-colored eyes, they are silent, and affectionate, and prefer to be in the company of the owner all the time, but they are fine alone.
Unfortunately, people who don’t know anything about the breed, go around crossing non-stop and generate non-standard dogs.
